The Black Fairy is an allusion to the wicked fairy from the fairytale of " Beauty and the Beast ", and the Enchantress from the Disney film Beauty and the Beast. At some point in Fiona's life, she marries Malcolm and becomes pregnant with his child. During a dark winter, Fiona gives birth to their son , and shortly after, the Blue Fairy and Tiger Lily , the newborn's fairy godmother, visit to deliver a prophecy about the child's destiny to become the Savior and die fighting a great evil. Fiona becomes obsessed with researching fairy lore in order to stop the prophecy and comes to believe the great evil, who is foretold to be born in winter with the mark of a crescent moon, must be a child who will be born soon. Upon tricking Tiger Lily into setting down her wand, Fiona takes it and recites an incantation to turn herself into a fairy, out of the belief that becoming a fairy gives her more power to protect her son.

Black Fairy
In this episode, The Black Fairy's origins and the secret that she kept from Rumplestiltskin are revealed in the present day as Gold takes Emma and Gideon inside the dream world to seek out the truth, while Regina helps Zelena adjust to a normal life without her magic. Fiona and Malcolm bore a son on a winter's night, but soon learn from the child's fairy godmother - Tiger Lily - that as the Savior, he is prophesied to die fighting a great evil. Fretting over her son's future, Fiona starts to read up on all of the fairy lore that she can, in hopes of stopping the prophecy, and comes to believe that her son's undoing, who will be marked by a crescent, has to be born sometime soon. The amount of information she has gained from the fairy lore allows Fiona to cast a spell and turn herself into a fairy, and she convinces Tiger Lily to travel with her to all of the newborns of that winter to check for the birthmark. Finding that none have it, Fiona comes up with a new idea that requires being allowed into the sacred fairy vault, but Tiger Lily soon deduces that Fiona's plan involves combining two spells, which is against the rules, to create a curse - the Dark Curse - which will banish all of the children to a land without magic, eliminating the threat they pose to her son. Tiger Lily tries to stop Fiona, but this only results in having her heart ripped out by the now deranged fairy who, upon proclaiming her willingness to kill her own son's fairy godmother, has her magic completely darkened Evil wasn't born this winter, but it was made. The Blue Fairy is able to return Tiger Lily's heart, but Tiger Lily makes one last attempt to reason with Fiona by offering her the Shears of Destiny to remove her powers; however, Fiona instead uses them to cut her son's fate as the Savior, believing that she needs her powers to protect him. Blue is unable to forgive this though, and so she takes Fiona's wand and uses the Ancient Wand to banish her to the Dark Realm. Before Fiona is dragged through the portal, she swears to do everything in her power to reunite with her son.

When Once Upon a Time first began, it was a simple tale about how the Evil Queen trapped the "good" fairytale characters in the town of Storybrooke, where they thought they were just regular people. The show has come a long way since then and a variety of characters have since popped up on the show including Peter Pan, Elsa and Anna, Aladdin and Jasmine, Merida, and so many others. The Black Fairy's real name is Fiona though that still doesn't really give any insight into who she could be a parallel for. Initially, I thought maybe she was Fiona from Shrek but that is most certainly not the case. For one, Fiona from Shrek is an ogre, not a fairy. Plus, she appears to have nothing in common with the beloved character. Some fans may have also believed that the Black Fairy could be a skewed version of Maleficent. But since Maleficent has already been part of the show prior to this played by the amazing True Blood vet Kristin Bauer van Straten , that can't be the case. No instead, it looks like the Black Fairy is simply just a character made up by the OUAT creators, which means her backstory could literally be anything.
Watch the video. Title: The Black Fairy 30 Apr The Black Fairy's past is revealed as we learn the real reason she gave Rumple up. Meanwhile, Gold goes after Gideon's heart. What really intrigued me into seeing it in the first place was its fascinating and creative premise of turning fairy tales and characters on their head and putting own interpretations on them. Good premises always do intrigue me and that or talented casts, or both, are usually my main reasons in my interest in watching something. Liked to loved a vast majority of Seasons and found a lot to like about Season 5, despite reservations with the second half of it. Season 6 was for me more hit and miss, leaning generally towards the disappointing. Personally thought that the first three episodes of the season were very good to great, especially "The Other Shoe". It was from "Strange Case" onward when the problems began and things got somewhat pear-shaped, when there was an increasing lack of new ideas and magic, increasing too were the campiness and soap opera, the over-stuffing and less interesting characterisation.
